Brembo Brakes began in Bergamo Italy back in 1961. Brembo became a big name for braking systems for high performance vehicles and motorcycles. In the beginning, Brembo imported disc brakes from the U.K., but then worked out a deal with Alfa Romeo. In the 80’s, Brembo began adding their brake system to BMW’s, Mercedes Benz, Porsche and many more. Brembo is an extremely reliable product due to them controlling the entire production system, such as distribution and even up to raw materials.

Some of the common questions Brembo gets about brakes are, should big brakes be installed on all four wheels, or just the front? When you brake, the brakes in the front do most of the work. If the brakes aren’t designed the right way, adding a big brake system to the back of the vehicle could actually result in adding unstable conditions to your vehicle. Brembo does offer rear brakes for only certain high performance vehicles.

Brembo actually offers different kinds of brakes for different budgets. There is the Sport System, which includes cross drilled or slotted discs and is the direct replacement for the OEM components. There is also the Gran Turismo system, which will upgrade your complete corner brake assembly. This kit combines fixed mount, 4 piston aluminum calipers equipped with performance brake pads, steel braided brake lines and 2 piece directionally vented discs.

Brembo goes out of their way to test and rid of unusual brake noises from their systems. There are plenty of factors that could contribute to brake noises, but it is very unlikely that a Brembo Brake System will create and noises. If you’re not comfortable installing brakes to your vehicle, it is highly advises to consult a professional to install the brakes for you.

Why does Brembo use larger discs than others? Because braking causes heat. The more heat the disc can take, the greater the fade resistance of the system. The usage of large discs results in larger effective radius. This increases their brake torque.

You might be wondering how long do Brembo discs last? It varies depending on several factors, such as the weight of the vehicle, the style of driving, how much you use the vehicle, the brake pad material and much more.
